Video Games…Not Just For The Young
So it has now been an ever increasing find that our grandfathers and grandmothers are getting into video games. As most of us gamers know, playing video games has positive effects on the mind and body, contrary to popular belief that they are bad for us.
So now most older people are finally getting on the ball and realizing how playing games like Tetris & Bejeweled can help keep their minds sharp.
Most popular are standard games that can be downloaded on your computer such as those found on Pogo.com. EA found that people 50 and older were 28 percent of their visitors for last month and spent more than 40% of the total time on the site. It was also found that on average more woman were into playing games then their male counterparts.
Beatrice Spain marketing director of Pogo.com had this to say “Baby boomers and up are definitely our fastest-growing demographic, and it is because the fear factor is diminishing. Women come for the games, but they stay for the community. Women like to chat, and these games online are a way to do that. It’s kind of a MySpace for seniors.â€
Also very popular is the Wii. Probably because of the games such as bowling, in which retirees can still play the games they enjoy but are not required to do as much physical activity to participate.
So it’s about time that people realize that video games in all their forms should be something that everyone enjoys.
