Dance Dance Revolution Burns the Pounds

I love reading anything about video games and how they actually improve your health.  I just saw this really cool article on USAtoday.com.

You may or may not be familiar with the game.  They are actually pretty popular with teenage girls and I’ve personally seen them in lot of movie theatres all over California.

It’s an arcade style game with a platform that players can stand on.  You follow along on the screen that shows arrows.  The arrows tell the player which way to move on the platform.  You follow the arrows and do the dance.

Now the company that distributes the game Konami Digital Entertainment is making at home versions.

The article discusses a few kids who have lost weight just by playing this game.  It also talks about how this one Dr. is actually going to be doing a six month study on the game and weight loss in 12-14 year olds.

If you’ve seen the kids playing this game, then you know why.  When the game really picks up the pace, some kids look like they are gonna pass out!  It really looks more like an aerobics class vs. a video game.  Not really my kind of game, but hey if it’s doing something positive in the gaming industry then I’m all for it.

If you have any interest in video games at all, then you need to check out my site Game-Testers.com.  Once you sign up, you will get all the in-depth knowledge on playing video games for a living.
