Part Time Black Box Tester
So you are probably thinking, what is a black box tester? The term “Black Box” is meant to describe a specific testing method. What that means in simple terms is that the testing you will do does not require you to have knowledge of the internal structure of the product. Many times you are testing the product for functionality.
A position such as this one, would be best for someone with prior testing experience. You need to know how to trace the bugs you will find and how best to report them.
This part time position comes with contractor status. What that means really depends upon the company. The company filling this position is a staffing agency. In their job posting it states “If you are not a local candidate but are relocating, please inform me of your arrangements (i.e., date and city/state you are relocating to).” So it is possible that you would be able to work from a location other than WA which is where this job is.
Your duties would include:
* Executes manual test plans and records results
* Uses automated test tools to build or run test scripts
* Reviews reported defects and ensures that the steps to reproduce them are clear
* Validates that defects have been eliminated by executing test plans or attempts to reproduce the defects by using the steps documented in defect reports
* Assists in identifying the root causes of defects
* Writes and runs test plans and test cases
* Works closely with Customer Service and Operations departments to help isolate and troubleshoot customer issues
* Plans and conducts open customer betas in test environments
The requirements of this job are as follows:
* Knowledge of testing approaches and techniques
* Diagnostic and problem-solving skills
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Good analytical skills
* Minimum of 3 years of experience
* Preferable with Game Testing experience, or have at least played video games
