2 Great Game Job Options
Any time I can list out more than one option within the gaming field, I love to do it. Today I happened to come across two very exciting and very different game jobs.
The first is with a company called ArenaNet. Creators of the award winning game series, Guild Wars. Located in Bellevue Washington, they are currently looking for a tester. Their official title is “Lead QA Analyst”. Fancy name for a game tester.
So here are the qualifications:
* 2+ years testing video games
* Passion for Guild Wars
* Works well in a creative team environment
* Reliable and self-motivated
* Extensive experience playing games
* Strong communication skills
* Creative and analytical thinker
* Strong problem solving abilities
* Familiarity with Word and Excel
* Experience in creating and running test cases
* 1+ year experience in a lead role
* Flexible schedule that adjusts to testing needs
* Able to work in a fast-paced, fluid environment with minimal supervision

The second position is with Capcom. I do not think Capcom needs any introduction. They are a large company. They are currently looking for someone to fill a position that basically requires you to make sure that specific standard have been met. This position is titled “Technical Standards Analyst”.
Here is an overview of the job:
Analyze and evaluate all published titles in regards Compliance Standards to determine state of completion and readiness for submission. Execute published Test Cases/Plans on all published titles, working with game testers as needed. Working with the QA Manager to liaison with game developer, outsourced QA Testers, in house testers, and drive testing process with all parties. Train game testers in regards to game standards and compliance testing. Collect and analyse test data for titles in process. Utilize bug databases to identify and organize analysis of issues. Prepare daily reports, update QA Wiki and maintain the QA standards trackers on the status of each project.
The qualifications for this position are:
* At least 3 years QA Testing Experience, with at least 1 year in compliance/ standards testing.
* At least 1 year in a QA Lead Tester role on a published title
* Intimate knowledge of Gaming Console and PC Game Standards, including: Microsoft TCRs, Sony TRCs, Nintendo LOT Checks, and Games for Windows Standards
* Firm understanding of game industry QA Testing and analysis, especially Console Manufacturers Requirements and Standards with all modern game consoles and portable handheld game systems.
* Experience in functionality, compatibility, and compliance/certification testing. Experience in play balance issue identification
* Ability to clearly document and present feedback regarding various aspects of the title.
* Ability to document and execute detailed test plans and Test Cases
* Ability to clearly communicate issues found to developers and management
* Ability to work well in teams and individually
* Other language proficiency highly desirable
* College education preferred
