Your Basic Internet Scam

So I have talked about scams before.  Some of which I have fallen prey too.  There are all kinds out there and the people that run them really have no care for the people they rob from.  This is simply because the Internet is too large of a place to police.

There are all types of Internet scams out there including work at home and email scams just to name a few.  So what can you do as a consumer to protect yourself and your hard earned money?

It’s pretty basic.  To start with you can do a little research.  The Internet is good for that.  See if you can find out whether the product you’re buying or the email you received is legit.  Is there a real person behind that email or is it just some automated bot sending out mass emails in an attempt to get your money.  That is pretty simple to figure out, if you get an email reply to it and if you get a reply and it is genuine and not your basic “thanks for writing us” email, then you can safely say someone is reading and returning correspondence.

You’ve also got to way the investment.  If you’re going to pay $600 for something, you’re going to really need to do some hard core research vs. let’s say you’re paying $20 for something.  Well then you do some basic research and if it seems legit, then you can take your chances.

You can also find out if the company has any sort of guarantee.  Whether it be a money back guarantee or a satisfaction guarantee.  If someone stands behind their product, there should be a guarantee of some sort attached to it.

One of the best ways to find out about a company is through a friend.  The Internet is a big place, but if you’re into the same things that you’re friends are, then perhaps they can point you in the right direction. Most friends I have would never steer me wrong.

So just be aware of what you’re getting into, weigh the risks, and then decide if it’s worth your money.
