Wolfenstein
‘Wolfenstein’ is a classic first person shooter game based on science fiction features and animations. Developed by Raven Software, id Software, Pi Studios and Endrant Studios and published by Activision, this game is set for release on August 18, 2009. It will be available for XBox 360, PS3 and the PC. Wolfenstein is the 3rd series to be released in this popular series.
Set in 1943, the game is rated as 18+ due to its horrifying features. The Second World War has reached its pinnacle and the Allied Army is creeping closer to victory. However, in continental Europe, Nazi tanks still hold the upper hand. Hitler’s demand of nothing less than global domination has given birth to a secretive society called the SS and its super human army known as the ‘Black Sun’. Only one person is able to stop the world from becoming hell, and that is special agent B.J Blazkowicz.
The technology used in Wolfenstein is an improved version of the one used in popular games such as Quake 4 and Doom 3. The game engine has been given several modifications – depth in sound effects, soft shadowing, post processing effects, Havok physics in addition to supernatural capacities known as the viel.
Viel allows players to gain access to certain special abilities, such as the power to slow down time, or avoid obstacles in your path, or even defeating enemies that otherwise are impossible to kill. There are multiplayer modes in this version as well and is based on the same modified engine as the Enemy Territory: Quake Wars game.
