The House of the Dead: Overkill
The House of the Dead: Overkill was just released on February 10th, 2009 exclusively for the Wii.
This game caters to one of the oldest obsessions of gamers all over the world- To kill tons of undead zombies. As the protagonist Agent G, your job is to investigate a series of mysterious disappearances. The clue trail takes you to the heart of the Bayou City and you get to meet lots and lots of infected zombies.
The doctors and nurses seem to have borne the brunt of the first attack of the zombies. They are the ones who have been infected and they are the ones you have to destroy if you want to live.
This game is a big improvement over the previous edition. You have a partner in this game. If you opt to play single, your partner will provide comic relief in this rather gruesome looking game. If you opt to play as a team, you can choose the character you want to play and the game will proceed accordingly.
Either way, there is no way you will play this game alone. Your partner will tag along even if you are playing solo.
Blasting your enemies is very easy with your Wii Remote. You have new features in your weapons as you can now lob grenades and conduct other special attacks. The shooting power has been improved but the standard weapons are still available.
The visuals and screenplay look tacky. However, this is out of design rather than out a mistake. This game has been designed to prevent the players from taking themselves too seriously. The choice of dialogues, colors and lighting all contribute to the overall cool and casual approach of the game.
Those who do not like challenges can simply go on blasting the zombies and try to solve the case. However, for those who like to explore the game and find hidden goodies, the game throws in an extra challenge. The zombies just keep on coming. If you want to search for hidden treasure, be ready to be attacked again and again. If you can handle the extra number of zombies to kill, then you can go ahead and explore to your heart’s content.
