The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena has been developed by Starbreeze AB and is being published by Atari. The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena is all set to be released on April 7, 2009 for the XBox 360, PS3 and PC.

The PS3 version of the game is a huge improvement over the extremely popular previous edition (Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay). This game features a retouched and improved version of the Escape from Butcher Bay challenge, a brand new adventure involving Riddick and a great multiplayer option for all those who love to pit their skills with other human and computer players.

The new challenge consists of the hero i.e. Riddick (a.k.a Vin Diesel) trying to break out of the deadliest and ultra secure prison in the entire galaxy. Needless to say, Riddick’s ability to see and hear things beyond normal range helps a lot in the completion of the mission.

As far as Butcher Bay is concerned, no major changes have been made. Overall, the game has become even better than what it was when it was originally released.

The first half of escape from Dark Athena requires you to make good use of your heightened sensory powers. Since you do not have the heavy firepower to destroy your enemies, you have to make do with what you have and combine it with stealth and cunning to get to the next level.

The developers of the game have increased the toughness of the challenge as the ordinary enemy foot soldier of this game has its weapon incorporated into its arm. So, even if you do kill the slow moving drone, you cannot make use of its weapon to increase your chances of survival.

You have to focus on stealth until you get access to the drone control room. Let the drones loose on your own enemies and watch the fun. Once the drones come under your command, you can be a bit more expansive in your approach. Of course, access to better weapons does not hurt either. With visuals, graphics and sound as good as the previous version if not better, you will definitely have lots of fun reprising the role of Riddick yet again.
