Review - Splinter Cell Double Agent (Xbox 360)
Any fan of Splinter Cell was eager for this new series to finally arrive. As stealth games go, Splinter Cell really cannot be beat.
For the most part, Splinter Cell Double Agent is similar to the action that was in all of the previous games. Sam Fisher is back again and of course he still works for the NSA. Gameplay is pretty similar to all of the other Splinter Cell versions. Most levels have that familiar feel to it.
The big change, Sam now also works for the bad guys (undercover of course). In this game the bad guys are the JBA. They are terrorists and their goal is to set off a nuke. What this all boils down to is that you now have two employers to keep happy. And so the newest part of Splinter Cell emerges. There are two meters present at all times during gameplay. One represents the NSA and shows whether they feel you are working towards their best interests. The other meter represents the JBA and their trust in you. Should either meter empty, it spells trouble for Sam.
So basically you find yourself running around in typical Sam style killing off bad guys with stealthy perfection and running missions for the terrorists. Then while there is still a little time left in the mission, you pick up important pieces of information for the NSA to help bring down the terrorists.
In this version as all the others you will find yourself saving often in an effort to complete each task perfectly. I am guilty of that. With each task completion done at its best, you will be rewarded with all kinds of new gadgets.
Although I am not personally impressed with the graphics (I simply expected more), the audio and gameplay itself are pretty outstanding.
Double Agent isn’t everything I expected it to be but of course I am still quite satisfied with what it has to offer.
I would suggest this game for anyone who is a true fan of the Splinter Cell series.
