Play an EA Game Online for Free
Electronic Arts has announced that it will distribute a new version of Battlefield online for free.
Battlefield Heroes will be released for the PC and be available online for download at no charge some time this summer.
Two years ago EA introduced a free version of another game in South Korea and to date that game has been quite successful with more than 5 million plays.
It appears that other companies may follow this trend as well. In this way companies are allowed to produce a less expensive game which could eventually produce larger profit margins.
With all the expensive games out there today, I think this is a great way to get in on the ever expanding online market.
This also allows players to get what they want. A way to interact with others online. We have all seen how successful WoW has been to date, that should signify what is to come.
You may wonder how would a company make money with free downloadable games? There are ways. Such as in game advertising. You will see advertisements for things during the game play. You would be able to purchase additional weapons, clothing, etc.
I think overall that having more free great downloadable games will only be a good thing in the long run.
I mean come on, we’ll still buy games, we’re gamers that is what we do!
