Lord of the Rings Online: Shadows of Angmar
So the big question is will LOTRO overcome the popular WoW? You tell me.
Launched just two days ago, this MMORPG (massively multiplayer online role playing game) is fast moving up the ranks and quickly becoming a beloved world for many gamers.
Set during The Fellowship of the Ring after leaving The Shire, you can meet all the characters from the story. At present, there are 6 areas you can travel within Middle Earth. Your option as a player:
Man
Hobbit
Elf
Dwarf
All except Dwarf can be male or female.
The game is an ever-winding adventure with plenty of combat along the way. Regrettably I have found that you do not have the option of playing as a Wizard and no regular player can have magic. Instead, the developers of this game offer you what they call the Power system. You have a power bar and it can be used to perform special attacks.

If you are a die hard Lord fan, then I’m sure you will enjoy this game. But for the hard core WoW fans, it simply will not compare in the MMO world.

It will not overcome it for many reasons. This is not because I like one or the other better. Just the WoW community is going to stay there for quite a while as long as they have the content they need and want. LotRO will no doubt get a few here and there from everywhere. However the way the scale is is tipped in WoW’s direction and they carry more gold then LotRO. WoW has a strong and huge community of players and the interaction is pretty much endless. You will not see any big results for a while on LotRO unless people decide to ditch there current MMO to give it a spin.
If LotRO wants to gain players, the best move right now would be for them to have a free trial as soon as it launches. People want to try before they buy any game and the best way to gather MMO players based on my experience when ya have stiff competition is to have a trial and to include this expansion will just help it sail better when WoW is creating those huge waves. They offer Trial and plus there community is huge. The best move is just to allow players the trial for now with expansions included.
I understand they want to make profit off there software and subscriptions but.. That will not help them unless they make a better offer to the MMO community then just it being LotRO.

i think it might over come WoW i mean there are more lotr fans than WoW lotr is probly gonna make it

You say that there are no magic user classes, this is just untrue. Loremaster’s are the = of wizards of other MMO’s.

I have tried lotr beta and i liked it except for the fact that they took Wow and Painted LOTR over IT! thats all they did the graphics are about like dnd online witch i tried as well and it was ok… i have played and still play wow i take wow over it because blizzard came up with all that wow is and was and Lotr creators should have done something more UNIQUE. Sure its risky, but how else do we discover new and awesome things? Basicly its LOTR world characters mobs ect ,but everything else will CRY WOW! WOW! WOW! i kind of hope this move to play Safe Keeps people away as it did me…stick to wow! especially if u gota 70 witch i do not on retail wow.
