Is Your Gamerscore at Zero Today?
I’m sure by now you have all heard that it is in fact possible to cheat and completely inflate your XBox Gamerscore. I had no idea this was possible, but had often wondered about some of the gamers listed on XBox live. Today will be the day to tell who was lying and who was legitimately getting their game on.
Apparently if you have the knowledge and some minor hacking ability, you can get into your XBox 360 save files and inflate your score. You can do this by unlocking objectives without actually playing the games to properly unlock those objectives. Pretty sneaky huh.
Well Microsoft has found out and has vowed to put a stop to this! Director of Programming for XBox Live stated they would be resetting cheaters Gamerscores to zero “making it impossible for them to regain all previously earned achievements (including legitimate ones), and labeling each account as a “cheater” for the entire community to see.”

Ok so now some bad news. What if you really didn’t cheat and someone say took over your account. Doesn’t matter. Microsoft is not accepting appeals.
So if you wake up today and check your gamerscore and it’s set to zero, I guess you are just a cheater!
We’ve all hacked something at some point in our lives especially if you’re a hard core gamer. I mean what are cheats for? I don’t necessarily agree with Microsoft’s bold statement of “What happened to their Gamerscore? They’ve been caught cheating”. I do believe it is kind of harsh, but what can I do about it? What can we do about it?
I am in no way defending people that cheat, BUT I certainly hope that Microsoft has all their bases covered and knows with 100% surety that the gamers they are blacklisting have in fact cheated. This is the year 2008 and they are basically convicting some gamers without a judge or jury.
