Internet Scams
I’ve written articles previously on scams and how you can determine if a website is trying to defraud you.
First I want to say that it is safe to assume that the majority of Internet businesses are not out to scam people out of money. Don’t get me wrong, there are plenty of scams out there, but there are also good people who want to do good. It really sucks that just the fact that you are an internet based business automatically raises suspicion of your intentions.
I decided to write this article because I myself got scammed. So to put it bluntly it happens to the best of us.
I have found one thing in common when I have gotten scammed (not proud to admit it’s happened a few times). The scammers will NOT communicate with you in any way. You can send email after email and get absolutely no response. That is simply because either:
1. There is not a real person there to respond to you OR
2. The scammer doesn’t have the balls to try to correspond with people that he is ripping off.
So how do you avoid getting scammed? That’s not as easy as it sounds. But here are the basics that you should look for to help you avoid scam artists:
1. Do they have a good, valuable product?
2. Is there any kind of guarantee on the product? If so, how does the guarantee work?
3. Can you pay with a credit card? (banks that issue credit cards protect against fraud transactions)
4. If you contact the person in charge of the website, do they respond to you?
5. Is there someone willing to answer your questions or concerns? Whether it be by email, fax or phone. As long as there is a live person on the other end chances are they are not scamming you out of funds.
6. Check out the website on Scam.com. You’ll get to see what other guys are saying about the website.
I should’ve known better when I got scammed. Truth was that I tried multiple times to contact the website that I was buying something from and they didn’t respond not one single time. But I thought “well maybe they are just busy”. I ended up paying in the end.
So just do your research before you invest any money.
