Call of Duty 3 (PS3)

So we’re back in the thick of WWII.  Only problem is it just isn’t as much fun as it was with the past two versions.  The single player game lacks basic information.  Whereas the past versions were able to draw you in and make you feel like you were in the center of it all, Call of Duty 3 lacks that “reality” effect.  Don’t get me wrong, it’s not that the graphics are of low quality, it’s simply the fact that in the midst of play, the game does not give you enough information to allow you to feel a true part of the action.  In the past versions, you definately felt as if the war was going on around you at all times.  This version just doesn’t compare.

It seems as if most of the time you feel like you’re really going to get into it, and then the chapter ends.  So you’re left with just a few measly moments of intensified action only to start out on the same path again.

There are also some clear kinks in the game play that were not caught before distribution.  Things such as bullet casings just hanging out in the middle of the sky.  I guess their game testers didn’t properly do their jobs…

Aside from the faults, the graphics are pretty outstanding.  The reality of the countries and landscapes are worth mentioning.  The explosions are on point as well as all the bitchin smoke grenades that allow you to run from your enemies.

My suggestion if you’re going to play this game - stick with the online play.  The only thing that sux is most gamers get their feet wet by player the single player mode offline and quite honestly it pales in comparison to the other versions as well as many of the other games out there right now.
