Battlestations 2 :Pacific

Battlestations 2:Pacific is published by Eidos interactive and is developed by Eidos Hungary. It is the sequel to Battlestations:Midway released in 2007. Battlestations 2:Pacific is an action and real time tactics video game. It is set to release on May 12, 2009. It will be released for the PC and XBox 360.

The pacific version of Battlestations is an expansion of Midway in many ways. It has several new combat features like island invasions which affect the battle at hand. Some new weapons, planes and ships have also been added. The player will now get to use the likes of Kamikazes such as the Ohka and Kaiten.

Battlestations 2:Pacific takes the war of American forces to Okinawa. The major addition to this version is that of the Japanese campaign that tells a story about what the Japanese would have done if they would have won in the Midway. It narrates their war effort beyond that point victoriously and onwards to invade America.

The game is set between the Japanese attacks on Pearl Harbor in 1941 to the battle of Okinawa that took place in 1945. The game is divided into two campaigns. One is the Japanese campaign and the other is the American campaign.

For the Japanese campaign the game is set from the attacks on Pearl Harbor to Midway and then finally to the invasion of America. This campaign features over 28 single player missions. And for the American campaign the game is set from the end of Midway to Okinawa.

Battlestations 2:Pacific’s gameplay illustrates a historically accurate story if the player chooses the American campaign and a historically plausible story if the player chooses the Japanese campaign. The Japanese campaign illustrates a virtual story of “what if the Japanese had won”.

The game features 5 new multiplayer modes that can be played with or against other humans or AI controlled characters that may be both online or offline. The five modes are
• Island Capture
• Duel
• Domination
• Siege
• Escort

The game’s graphic engine has been reconditioned. And the game’s damage model and physics engine have been redeveloped to a much higher level of realism than that of its older version. The new changes will let the player experience the likes of a ship split in two, smoke stacks and the crewmen blasted overboard. Also the wings, tails and the engines can be shot off planes.

This game now includes several types of environment effects such as giving the player the ability to see the night/day effects along with the weather effects. All in all the new version of Battlestation is set to thrill the players with the new effects and the storyline that also ventures into fiction alongside the reality.
