1942 Joint Strike

Capcom Entertainment’s latest offering is its 1942 remake of the original arcade game 1942: Joint Strike. Scheduled to be released July 23rd 2008 for Xbox 360 owners and on July 24th 2008 for PS3 owners. This game was developed by Back Bone Entertainment. The story of the game is set in a World War II scenario with players demolishing the Japanese Pacific fleet with U.S. planes.

The brand new score for the game created by Norihiko Hibino who created music for the Metal Gear series is also something to look forward to. The art of the game is similar to the previous games. It will also be playable via the two player method either sitting next to one another or on Xbox Live. Players can choose from 3 different fighter planes and one of 3 different co-op (two player) strikes. You have three options to choose from when it comes to selecting planes. Mosquito, Shinden and Lightning are those three options. This reduction in the number of options is going to be a huge disappointment for the gamers because of less variety. This new genre has been given a complete 3D look.

If you are in a two-player game then you can opt for the Joint Strike attack. For example you could bond the airplanes of the two players with electricity and combat enemies in small numbers. This feature of Joint Strike is called Chain Lightning. Another feature is, Shot Link, which launches a bomb in between the two fighters. And last but not the least is the Clash Blast in which the bomb’s blast increases in radius as the distance between the two fighters increases. Clearly the two-player or co-op style of player is set to be much more fun than the 1 player style.

If you are playing Joint Strike on a vertical screen format then you will not be able to enjoy the game frankly speaking, because this game has been developed to suit the likes of high definition widescreen. Even with the high definition facelift and the Joint Strike features, this version seems to be quite similar to the earlier ones when it comes to the basics. The game offers the usual weapons such as rockets, bombs, missiles, and lasers. That’s why the sound effects and graphics must be terrific.

So get ready to experience the ultimate joy ride in your fighter plane.
