I love reading good news about video games. It helps to make up for all the bad things people say video games cause. So when I read this story, I just had to share the news with everyone.
So it has now been an ever increasing find that our grandfathers and grandmothers are getting into video games. As most of us gamers know, playing video games has positive effects on the mind and body, contrary to popular belief that they are bad for us.
Results from a study held in Germany have found that people who play car racing video games tend to get into more accidents by driving in a reckless fashion. You can read the entire article on this study by CLICKING HERE
I just read a news report on Fox News.com about a study that was just done with 10 mail college students by the University of Rochester.
I found some info on the Internet regarding certain porn sites finding their way onto video games. Apparantly what occurs is you go online and the porn pop up appears. One gamer mentioned this occured when he was playing the Wii. Captain Bill Duncan with the Caddo Sheriff’s department had this to say “They are actually accessing Wii consoles through their sites and enticing people to come into their sites. Before we knew it we had a house full of guys and they were flipping out, I mean, they really had some hard core stuff which I don’t think would be appropriate for the youngsters.”
I know from personal experience how addictive games can be. Especially when you enter the online world. MMO games are my favorites. World of Warcraft is one that I am highly addicted to and any gamer knows it can be totally absorbing.
You know there are always those “researchers” out there looking to explain why people do what they do. Bottom line is for me is that if you are addicted to gaming, hey there is nothing wrong with that. But psychologists seem to think so. They are always looking for some way to drug up the world. They now want to label hard core gaming as “compulsive behavior”. Well yeah maybe it is compulsive but it’s fun and fulfilling.
Are video games addicting? Absolutely. I myself am personally addicted to several video games right at this moment. Is that a bad thing? I certainly don’t think so.
I love reading anything about video games and how they actually improve your health. I just saw this really cool article on USAtoday.com.
I just read this article on Newhouse News Service about how certain game developers are coming up with games that will focus on social awareness.
