Job Requirements are:
* 18 years of age or older
* High school diploma or equivalent
* Prior testing experience in the gaming industry
* Strong interest in video games
* Technical skills with PC’s and consoles (XBOX 360, Playstation 3) for troubleshooting.
* Knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word
* Availability to work forty or more hours per week including weekends, when required
* Sharp attention to detail
* Great verbal communication skills
* Ability to explain issues thoroughly and professionally
* Strong command of all parts of writing process; copy, revision, editing, etc.

* Aptitude to learn quickly and effectively

One of the greatest places to gain testing experience (as a paid gig) is Nintendo.  But not every gamer lives near a Nintendo location.  So this isn’t always possible.

What you will see once you gain experience (no matter what kind) is that there are endless supplies of opportunities out there for you.  Most paying more money and offering more benefits than your standard entry level positions.

I found two positions that are both amazing.

The first one is in Seattle WA and it’s a cool gig doing something called “Title Updates”.  Among other duties you will get to do competitive research and reporting.  Which I find really cool.  It helps with feedback on a game.

Volt is a company I often talk about.  They are a staffing agency and have major contracts with some of the largest developers & publishers out there today.  It’s also a great way to get established as a contractor for a gaming company.

They are currently hiring a tester for iPhone games.  The job duties are:
* Finding and reporting bugs for wireless software applications and games
* Following a test plan for wireless software applications across multiple handsets
* Testing applications and games against published carrier standards
* Finding and reporting bugs in back-end tools that power mobile applications
* Working closely with the other members of the QA team in order to streamline testing process
* Working closely with members of the Studio and Operations teams to complete assigned projects Reports to QA Project Lead.

Only two hard requirements that I can see and it is that you are an avid gamer and you have experience with iPhone apps.

The pay scale is pretty amazing too since really this is an entry level job.  They are paying $13.50 per hour.

The requirements are:
* Strong familiarity with a wide range of MMO and MMORPG titles
* Should have (software) QA/Testing experience and familiar with online gaming mechanics.
* Preferred experience in PS3 adventure/action games and have an avid comic book background
* Ability to communicate effectively (focused written and oral communication skills).
* Sufficient technical skills to work on a PC (update drivers, etc…).
* Must be able to work at least a 40 hour work week. Hours are generally 9-6, or 10-7.

This position is offering $10 an hour which isn’t bad these days with the economy being what it is!
