World Series of Video Games Set to Air
I just read an article about the World Series of Video Games being broadcasted on TV. Intel (the company that presents the series) announced yesterday that they signed deals with network, cable & satellite television. This includes CBS among others. To view the entire article click here
They will be broadcasting over 20 hours worth of the series to us here in the U.S. They are also working on distributing the broadcast internationally.
I don’t know about you, but I’m really excited about this. We’ll get to see the current “stars” of the gaming world along with some pretty intense gaming action. Not to mention what it will do for the world of gaming.
CBS is set to air a program named “They Got Game” on December 30th at 3pm. This show will tell the stories of 5 hard core gamers rising up in the area of game competition.
The World Series Finals are being held at Chelsea Piers in NY and will appear on CSTV (a CBS company) every Sunday for 5 weeks starting at 9pm EST on January 21, 2007. Games that are scheduled to be played during the final rounds are:
Counter Strike 1.6
Quake 4
Warcraft III
Frozen Throne
Hal 2
Project Gotham Racing 3
Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter
So be sure to set your Tivo!
This continues to feed fuel to the ever growing professional gaming field. I could honestly not be more happier than I am right now.
