There are basic prerequisites for becoming a game tester. You must be 18 years of age or older if you wish to get paid to test. You should also have a HS diploma or equivalent. You should have the aptitude and passion for playing games and a general understanding of how they work. It would be preferable if you have done some game design courses to understand the design process and where mistakes can be made. You can also participate in public beta tests for video games, which will help you to get familiarized with the actual nature of the job. As a beta tester, your job is to find and report bugs.
And what’s great is that this can be done in your spare time if you find the right job. You must possess the knowledge about various operating systems and gaming consoles. In addition, a game tester must have good writing and communication skills. Because, after all developers are dependent on your reports to fix bugs and errors. Therefore, if your writing is illegible or communication skills are poor you might end up miscommunicating the flaws you did find.
