Video Games and Violence
So exactly whose fault is it if a kid plays a horrifically violent video game? Most “watchdog” groups like to blame the gaming companies who distribute the games along with the stores that sell them.
But honestly, shouldn’t a parent be responsible for what their kids are doing & watching?
Yeah video games can be violent, but I certainly hope that the person playing that game is old enough to understand “it is just a game”.
When these games are being made, I am sure the designers are not sitting around saying “Hey I can’t wait to finish making Scarface so all those young kids can go shoot up a cartel with an AKA47.” I mean come on, let’s all get real here. I would certainly hope that the true intention behind a game is for hard core gamers to get the most out of the experience. The bloodier, the better as far as I’m concerned.
I mean who is buying these games? If it’s a parent don’t they see the “M” rating? And if so, then why the hell are they buying it then?
So let’s stop pointing the finger at the game companies and start holding parents responsible for what their children play.
