Playstation 3 Madness

WOW, as the limited release of PS3 draws ever closer, the stories of the madness emerge.

I was watching the news this morning and I saw something that went down at a Walmart in Palmdale.

Walmart is scheduled to get in 20 PS3’s tomorrow.  The crowd started gathering outside 2 days ago.  The people took over the store yesterday pushing babies over, knocking down store shelves, etc.  All in an effort to get to the front of the line so they could get one of the 20 PS3’s being sold.

Police had to be called to disburse the crowd.  They said it was totally out of hand and people had really been injured.  Some of the guys in the crowd said it was “a pretty scary situation”.  Luckily nobody was arrested.

Walmart finally smartened up and started handing out coupons to the first 20 people in line so that they could leave the store.

I also heard from another gamer that he saw the PS3’s going for $2,000 on Ebay.  Since the release is only a limited one set to occur on 11/17, there are not going to be very many consoles out there for a while.  Apparantly people are taking advantage (or trying to) of hard core gamers who are willing to pay just about anything to be one of the first people with the new PS3.  I personally don’t feel any system is worth $2k, but then again that’s just my opinion.

Doesn’t anyone wonder why they would do such a limited release of such a hyped product?  I do and it really bugs me that they have a release date of 11/17, but meanwhile they are only distributing what seems like a few hundred consoles nationwide.  You’ll be lucky to get the PS3 by Christmas.  So what’s the purpose of the 11/17 release date?

If you’re a hard core gamer, then you need to check out my site Game Testers.com.  I have a ton of cool articles, links, and best of all the Game Tester Guide that shows you how to get a gaming job.
