How to Handle Parents
Since I launched my site, I have received a ton of emails from kids having issues with their parents when they are attempting to get a game tester job. So I decided it was time to write about it.
I am going to list the best way I see to handle any parent (or anyone close to you) when they give you slack about wanting to become a video game tester.
Here are the main positive points of a game tester job:
* You will be paid
* This is a real job
* This job is legal
* You will learn responsibility (while enjoying gaming)
* You can start to pay your own way
We all know that parents or loved ones can be hard on us, but it is honestly only because they care. Since you will make money being a video game tester, why not make a deal? Perhaps offer 10% of your first weeks pay as a bargaining tool. This will show them that you are serious about going after a game tester job. So serious that you are willing to offer part of your pay!
Now another concern of most parents is that “hey if he starts making money, what’s he going to do with it?” You should address this question before it’s even brought up. Let your parents know that once you start making money, you will open up a bank account. It will make your parents feel more secure that you’re not going to start blowing your money on stuff you don’t need…
Lastly let your parents know that the reason you’re looking for a tester job is not to slack off playing video games but to help you become a responsible adult and learn the true value of a dollar.
So listen, if you’re a young gamer who’s just looking for a way to play video games and keep your parents happy, then you should check out my site Game-Testers.com. I’ll clue you in on all the info you need on finding a real game tester job.
