Computer Games Created by Students
I am not personally into computer games, I prefer video games myself. But there are a ton of my members out there who are into computer games. So this article is for you guys.
I just read something online about students at Cornell University (located in Ithaca NY) creating computer games and actually getting credits for it. To view the entire article click here
Four years ago the design class started with just 7 students working on new computer games. Now there are more than 70. The program is also considered a minor vs. just offereing one college credit.
One of the coolest things I saw was that most of the students from this program are then hired by EA, which as we all know is one of the biggest gaming companies out there right now.
Apparantly it pays to get into the gaming field. Just think about this…You go to college (just like your parents want you to) and you get to actually study something that you’ve always loved. Can you really beat that? I mean how many people work their butts off every day doing something that means absolutely nothing to them. If you’re already a gamer at heart then attending school for it is the way to go.
So hey, for all your lucky gamers out in Ithaca, get signed up with Cornell ASAP!
For everyone else not lucky enough to be in upstate NY or have the money for a university like that, then you should think about breaking into the gaming industry using a different method.
